Gus`s Pub and Grill in Halifax

The definition of a dive bar, but that's what is appealing about the place, a no frills, dark, dingy hole in the wall that attracts a decent size crowd when local bands rock out the place. Somehow they keep getting these amazing restaurants that open and close once every couple years, so you never know what kind of delicious food you'll get when you show up, one day you'll be enjoying the best burger in town and the next day will no longer offer any burgers at all, but the best donuts in the city instead! lol

Great live band and show and stuff. Location is on the bus route. One around the corner; the other across from the street.

Tons of VLTs. They support local music and comedians, so that's great.

Lovely pub atmosphere and variety of activities including trivia and live music. Sometimes the music starts quite late, but it is enjoyable everytime. I've met many people thanks to Gus'!

Went for a few drinks with a friend and I was surprised how spacious it is. We also had some beautiful music in the background, which made our time fantastic. Would definitely recommend.

Love that they got rid of most of the carpet but unfortunately my whiskey sour tasted like bug spray.

Bad experiences here. Both myself and my friend made the decision to go for live music, and we don't really drink for personal reasons. The bouncer insulted us both, and engaged in extremely threatening behavior because we "only spent money on bands and not on the bar." This crosses a line for both of us as due to family issues with addiction, we don't drink. Don't go here. The bouncer is abusive and should be fired.I should also add that we are both disabled, and being yelled at and insulted is extremely challenging for us both. Make your own decisions on where you want to spend your money. I, for one, won't be back. The Seahorse will get our business from now on.

Great shows, just get beer by the bottle tho.

An establishment of the North End full of character that makes it's otherwise unsophisticated atmosphere charming. With old VLTs, a cash only bar, and a rotation of different kitchen partners, this metal bar by night, neighbourhood bar by day is a comfortable, unpretentious choice.

This place is great. Not like the trendy bars you find around halifax. I can go for a beer without listening to the 1st world problems of locals and hipsters. Plus they cater to more of a music scene i grew up around. Has just the right level of comfort. Have yet to eat from ace burger though. I hear they make decent food.

We used to go there when Ace Burger was there. Loved the atmosphere.

Salt of the earth! Check out "the Big Sing" . Of course when your belly growls you will be seduced by the world class Taco bar. A Halifax MUST STOP!

Cool, intimate bar where you can really become a regular. Amazing tacos and a fantastic comedy night on Monday nights. The best!

Had a draft beer , and poutine , its a nice place to be with group of friends low music , low lightings makes it a perfect place for social gathering ,BUT those who are a foodie dont expect much few items on the menu board .

Attended the Big Sing here, it's an amazing place. A very friendly welcoming atmosphere and the little restaurant tucked in the corner is a great place to eat.

Beer was cold & there was classic rock playing. Be still my middle aged heart!

I just don't see the appeal. I know many people seem to love this place, but we found it to be dirty, dingy, and completely unappealing. Very limited selection of beer, and the food was almost non-existent. I love that they seem to support local bands, and probably are good on those nights. To each their own.

Very small, dark, and low key bar. Vlt machines take up a large portion of the room, small bar with a decent selection but only accepts debit and cash. They share the space with Taco Lina's so food is available through them but you have to purchase food and drinks individually (Gus' pub supplies the drinks). We visited during burger week (taco linas) and it was quite busy, probably around 15 tables in the room. There's also a small stage for live entertainment. Not a fine dining experience by any means, it did the trick for what we were looking for (beer and a burger week burger) but the only reason I'd return would be for taco linas.

Great people here. Prices are fair :)

Friendly atmosphere, standard drink prices for Halifax, slots if that's your thing, as well as a weekly comedy show on Mondays at 8.If you live in the North end and don't like the hustle and bustle of down town, this is a great place to go.

A very cosy Pub. Staff and food are great. Just over the bridge and easy to find. Only downfall is, if you drive, tough to find parking.

Always great live music and best tacos in town!

Gus' Pub is awesome because they host The Big Sing every two weeks. It's a friendly place with beer and a little Taco Bar for grub.

The best tacos on this side of Mexico. Seriously, you can't get tacos this good anywhere else. Not your standard fair, they have fish, chicken, steak, pork and more. Do yourself a favor and make sure to give this place a shot. You won't regret it. There's even a tofu taco. Seriously, don't miss it.
